First, How To Read
These Maps: These maps represents
four different broad categories of crimes/calls that Brookfield Police regularly
respond to. The data is a compilation of 2001 statistics. The compiling of
this data was very time consuming so frequent updates to the maps are not
to be expected. One could estimate that density of crime/calls usually
remain the same from year to year. The
four categories (4 different maps) compiled are: 1.
Persons crimes - i.e. Assault, Domestic Violence, Menacing, Telephone
Harassment, or other crimes that are committed against person(s). 2.
Property crimes - i.e. Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damaging, or other crimes
that are committed against property. 3.
DUI/DUS - Driving Under The Influence or Driving Under Suspension. This is
not where a person arrested for these offenses lives, it is where these
types of traffic enforcement/arrests take place. 4.
Traffic Crashes - Where traffic accidents occur not where the persons
involved in the traffic lives. You
will see 5 different colors superimposed on the maps. These colors
represent a percentage for the amount of calls answers/crimes committed in
that area.
The 5 colors and the percentages they
represent are:
= 0% - 4%
= 5% - 9%
= 10% - 14 %
= 15% - 19%
= 20+%
So a blue shaded region on any of these maps shows that
area represents 10% to 14% of incidents of that type (out of the total for
that year) were reported or were responded to in that area of Brookfield
Township over one year.
